BBFC classifications, emma, matt, mitch

The BBFC (British Board of Film Classificationis an independent, non-governmental body which classify/rate films and games according to their content. They then divide these into one of 7 categories; U, PG, 12, 12a, 15, 18, R18 (12a is purely for cinema and enables children under the age of 12 to view the film when accompanied by an adult, without an adult however, they must be above the age of 12. R18 is adult material sold in shops and shown only in specific cinemas, so excluding these two there are five different categories). A 'U' is a film suitable for audiences of all ages as it contains little or no violence, no foul language or scenes of an adult nature. 'PG' stands for parental guidance and basically means that parents may want to view the film beforehand to see if it is suitable for their children. the numbered rating systems are basically classified according to age, e.g. you must be 15 or over to view a 15. this is because they may contain foul language, sexual/explicit scenes or strong violence.
